Cactus Coast Guard

WELCOME

We are the Cactus Coast Guard. Some of us have actually served here in Arizona doing boating safety and Colorado River Patrol. I am sure some out there will ask Colorado River? Well the Colorado River has two purposes for us to be here. 1. Back in the day the river connected to the Gulf of Mexico and had river boats (paddle wheelers) that transited from the Gulf up to the area of Bullhead City carrying passengers and cargo to just below where the Hoover Dam is located, 2. The river acts as a dividing line between California and Arizona and Nevada and Arizona. Well today the water runs out before it even gets to the U.S. Border and Mexico. But it still is a dividing line for the three states.
STORY We are the Coasties of the Desert
We are a group of Coasties the gather to visit and enjoy each others company and we live in the desert. We come from all walks of Life in the Coast Guard, we enjoy each others company and want to meet more Coasties that live around the desert area of Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California and Utah that share the desire.
We have 3 to 4 Brunch’s a year where we gather.
I know you ask your selfs, Coast Guard in the desert?? That is a strange thought buy it is factual. - John James
